Ellen Monahan

Boston University

Hi! My name is Ellen Monahan. I am a rising Senior Business Major at Boston University and a member of the Women’s Lacrosse team. The recruiting process was anything but traditional for me, as I moved several times with my family and attended middle school and high school in Ohio, a non-traditional lacrosse state. In order to gain exposure to college coaches and play on high-level club teams, I had to travel extensively

throughout high school, while doing much of my lacrosse training independently. The time management and prioritization skills that I learned, enabled me to maintain high academic standards while managing the recruiting process, and playing three Varsity sports. Successfully balancing all of these commitments positioned me for success at the collegiate level. As a captain and three-year starter for the Terriers, I look forward to sharing my experiences with young athletes and guiding them through the recruiting process and beyond. As a CGM Mentor, I look forward to supporting young athletes and their families with the following:

  • Communication and leadership skills, both on and off the field

  • Effective time management and organizational tools to apply both during the recruiting process and continuing into college athletics

  • Strategies for staying motivated and putting in the work (even when you don’t feel like doing it!)

  • Fail proof ways to stand out during showcases and tryouts

  • How to be valuable Team member while maintaining your individuality

My goal as a CGM mentor is to help aspiring athletes understand and appreciate their need to take responsibility for all aspects of being a student athlete: academics, fitness, nutrition, communication, and mindset. I want to help young athletes reach their athletic goals while not allowing their whole identity to be defined by their sport. We each serve a bigger purpose, and being a student athlete is just one piece of our life, not all of it. You can sign up for my mentorship below!
